Diesel engines, such as the 1999-2003 Ford Powerstroke 7.3L, do not strictly require a bypass oil filter like the Sinister Diesel Bypass Oil Filter System. However, installing one can significantly enhance engine longevity by removing much finer particles than standard filters, keeping oil cleaner and reducing long-term engine wear.
